The morning in Borgarnes was unforgiving. The wind howled through the streets, forcing us back indoors after a short walk. Ramesh braved his run, but the rest of us surrendered to warmth. With a relaxed reporting time, we set out for the Silver Circle tour, the pace slower, the mood lighter, as though the land itself was giving us a breather before the next surge of adventure.
We stopped at the Husafell Stone, the legendary strongman’s test of strength, its silent presence daring us to imagine the feats of men who had lifted it centuries ago.
Later, we descended into a lava cave. The subterranean world was cold, silent, and surreal. Walking through tubes carved by molten rock thousands of years ago, we felt like characters in Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth. The basalt walls whispered of fire and fury, the chill reminded us how close we were to the edge of the habitable world.
Dinner was simpler — Subway sandwiches and local ice cream. But even here, Iceland played its tricks. The ice cream tasted salty, and then we noticed the shop’s name: Ísbúð Huppu. In Tamil, “Uppu” means salt. The cosmic joke wrote itself, and laughter carried us through the evening.
